Sunderland release Craig Gordon
Sunderland released the goalie together with another 8 players for free. When Sunderland bought him from Hearts for a fee of £9 million, in 2007, it was the British transfer record for a goalkeeper. Sunderland established Simon Mignolet as their first choice goalkeeper after Gordon broke his arm twice and suffered a knee tendon last April, together with inconsistencies. He was no longer in the club's plans, in fact he only 1 last season, against Bolton.
