Arsenal shareholder blames board

Arsenal second largest shareholder said that Van Persie did not sign a new deal because of the new board, where he criticized them hugely. In fact Red and White Securities Limited (held by Alisher Usmanov and Farhad Moshiri), wrote a letter to the board questioning their ambitions and also questioning whether this will happen again, after last year Samir Nasri left Arsenal in a similar manner. In the letter one can truly say that between RWD holdings and Arsenal board, including Ivan Gazidis, there are a lot of differences. In the letter one can find that Usmanov criticized that the financial model that the board adopted for the club worked 10 years ago, but not in this time, were players are going away to their main competitors. He said that that policy was good for the club when they needed to build a new stadium, but now they must ensure that they will win trophies, and not making millions in their pockets.

Steven Caulker agrees to Tottenham's deal

Steven Caulker signed a new deal with Tottenham that will keep him with the club until 2016. Caulker was always with Tottenham from the day he turned professional, but he spent the past seasons on loan with other clubs to gain experience. His last loan deal was with Swansea, who was a really impressive one, as he played well, and this was appreciated by being called-up to the GB Olympic team. There were talks that Swansea could keep the player for at least another season, but Tottenham secured their young talent, and the coach wants him to start playing with Tottenham. Tottenham already signed the deal of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea, which is the first signing of the new coach Andre Villas-Boas. The player said that although he's happy with the deal, he wants to concentrate on the performances of the GB team.

Goal-line technology will probably be used

The goal-line technology will be discussed in a meeting in Thursday, as most probably the technology will be used, but International Football Association Board must give it the go-ahead. The results of the tests will be made available during the meeting, and after the results of the hawk-eye (similar to the one used in tennis) will be viewed, they will decide whether to accept it or not. The English and Scottish Premier Leagues are set to be among the first to introduce it. Many countries are in favor of this technology, however Michel Platini is not, and he confirmed this more than once. The law change needs the majority of votes to pass. the premier league already put an application to introduce such technology from 2012-2013, but it was stated as too soon, but the possibility of technology will be used in mid-season is present. The desire for this technology sparkled once again after Ukraine were denied a goal against England, when the ball seemed to have entered the goal-line, which however the referee assistants failed to spot. Roberto Di Matteo is one of the managers who said that the technology is really needed, as these incidents are becoming more and more apparent.

Corinthians are South America Champions

Corinthians won the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their history, thanks to the 2 goals scored by Emerson Sheik. Corinthians scored the 2 goals in the second half, but they dominated the possession of the match, and were the most aggressive, and so they deserved to win the match. In the first half Corinthians had much more chances than Boca Juniors, but the managed to hold them off, and enter the half-time talk in a nil-nil score. But the 33-year old striker, open the score with a half-volley after he received a pass from Danilo. Boca Juniors were unfortunate to substitute their regular goalkeeper due to injury at the 60th minute, after claiming a knee injury. Emerson and Paulinho were the dominant figures in the pitch for Corinthians as they looked always dangerous and to create space and chances. The first goal came from a free-kick by Alex, with the ball had a flick, before ending in the feet of Danilo, who passed it to Emerson and he scored with a half-volley. Then Emerson scored the second goal when he took advantage from a mistake by Rolando Schiavi, ran half the pitch and with a one-on-one with the keeper he slotted home.

Van Persie refuses to sign new contract!

Emergency for Arsenal as their star player Robin van Persie has decided to refuse the contract offered to him by the Gunners. In a statement which appeared on his official website (and also on Arsenal's official website), the Dutch international has declared that he will not renew his current contract, which runs out next summer. The forward has stated that financial terms were not the issue, since these are not his priority at all. The player continued by saying that after several meetings conducted between him, Arsene Wenger and Mr. Gazidis, it has become clear to him that they disagree on how Arsenal FC can move forward and restore the club back to its glory days. Amongst the highest chasers for his signature are crowned champions Manchester City, who could lure him away due to their latest trophy additions, something which catches RVP's interest. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus are also monitoring the situation.

Rangers will not take part in the Scottish Premier League

Rangers will not play in the Scottish Premier League for sure next season, after a lot of clubs rejected the proposition. Today there was the meeting of whether the clubs agreed that Rangers newco should enter the Premier League, but a good number of clubs rejected the possibility, and so the SPL chairman had no choice but to reject Rangers proposition. So the next division that Rangers will try to enter is in League One, but here there are also a number of clubs who said they reject Rangers. Also there is another problem in the Scottish League - who will replace Rangers? Will it be Dunfermline who were relegated last season, or Dundee who were runners-up? If the proposal of Rangers entering League One is also rejected, then Rangers will play in Division Three. In fact out of 30 clubs, 11 already said that they reject the proposal for rangers entering League One. Rangers had financial problems, which led the club to be liquidated, and then a new one was formed. Doncaster spoke about Rangers new options. He said that Rangers can either be placed in League One or in the third division.However the last option can have severe effects on Scottish football, as financially sponsors will go away.

Arsenal offer for Lloris was rejected

According to Olympique Lyon president, Arsenal offer of £15 million was rejected, for their goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Last season Lyon did not finish in the top 3 which meant that they will not take part in the Champions League, and so some of their starts must have to leave, to reduce some costs. However after a few days ago Lyon president said that Lloris could be sold, he warned Arsene Wenger, that either Arsenal must be prepared to pay his true value, or else they must go away and find someone else. He also said that the players that did not perform well last season will also be placed on the transfer list. He said that the value of Lloris is £20 million, and if that money is given then he can go.

Pogba is a Juventus player. Ferguson furious

After weeks of speculation that Paul Pogba will join Juventus, yesterday it was confirmed by Manchester United. The move made Sir Alex Ferguson furious, saying that Pogba had agreed a deal with Juventus a long time before they were aware of it, and so it is very disappointing seeing him move in that way, as if Juventus "stole" the player from them. Paul Pogba joined United from Le Havre in 2009, also in controversial move, and with Manchester United he only played a few games, many of which were from the bench.
